I totally needed a good laugh yesterday. I laughed so hard at rehearsal, I was in tears, rolling on the floor and had to catch my breath. Oh Bean Way Ha.... Steph, you are missed, you would have cried too.
Work is indeed nutty this week and I'm battling my emotional demons. Didn't sleep so well last night, although I should have...

Однако, странно, что в свободной демократической стране, в которой 85% населения этнические русские, интеллектуальной политикой по-прежнему довольно успешно пытаются рулить люди, откровенно стесняющиеся употреблять слово "русский" в своих произведениях и выступлениях. Платон и Аристотель специально подчёркивали, что пишут свои произведения для эллинов. Какая часть работ сотрудников ИФ РАН предназначена русским, абсолютно непонятно, поскольку слово "русский" в них встречается почти исключительно в историческом контексте. Эти люди в душе давно похоронили русский народ, и совершенно неудивительно, что теперь, когда речь ведётся о выселении их с насиженных мест – здания ИФ РАН в центре Москвы – русские не горят желанием выходить на улицу, чтобы защитить фальшивый "оплот философской науки".
Если таковы люди, получающие зарплату от российского государства за решение вопроса, кого считать философом, а кого нет, то плохи дела русской философии. Русская философия никогда не поднимется с колен, не освободившись от навязанных ей в период слабости русского государства институций, единственный смысл существования которых в том, чтобы кастрировать и топтать независимую русскую мысль. По большому счёту следовало бы не только выселить, но и ликвидировать как академическую институцию «Жёлтый дом». Это лишь ускорит движение страны к свободе, которое ей так необходимо. Периодическое заигрывание высших лиц государства с мастодонтами позорного (пост)советского безмыслия в свободной, независимой от этно-олигархических группировок России не только эстетически отвратительно, но и политически неприемлемо.

Had a class of 5 last night, but it was awesome. Two of the girls came in from St. Catherines, because apparently Southern Ontario needs more tribal! YAY!
Tonight rehearsal. Tomorrow Kathak. Thursday Pilates.
And work work work. Chaos! GAH!

Utahraptor said "There are physical limits to what a -" before he was interrupted by T-Rex. If he'd been allowed to continue he would have said "There are physical limits to what a device such as that can do, and it wouldn't be enough, as I said earlier - assuming of course that the person lives a sedate lifestyle and barely uses their legs."
I say this because it turns out that people are ALREADY working on T-Rex's invention! In fact, they're such great people that they started working on it even before he invented it, and that's really something. Thank you everyone who sent me links to this Science Daily article and this NPR story. I even got some emails from researchers working on this very problem, which was kind of crazy, because I hadn't expected that! It made me think that if I'd written a comic about how you can converse in English with your dogs now instead, we'd all be waking up today to a world where, come Christmas 2009, a Dog Talker will be on the top of everyone's list!
Anyway that sounds pretty good to me!
UPDATE: Guys it turns out that dog translators exist, I am going to think really hard about what my third invention will be before posting it here; I don't want to waste it.
UPDATE 2: Okay the idea of using breasts as a power source was just a stray thought, I didn't mean for it to come true! I need to get a handle on controlling this new-found power. – Ryan |

As a writer/artist/colorist (etc.) in comics, I feel an odd kinship with the tragically noble tribrid depicted above, the Bearsharktopus, so I have adopted him as my new spirit animal and branded my new blog accordingly. This post marks the beginning of my transition from LiveJournal to Tumblr. See you there.

This weekend was pretty mellow. I went to both kathak and pilates (well, dragged my ass to both; morning classes are not my forte) and I just have to make sure I take good care of myself. That and I have super adorable kittens... I can not get over how big a goober I've become over them. They were wrestling each other when I left for work.
I parted with my old futon and got a gorgeous red brocade, Victorian repro loveseat. And now I want a pretty house to put it in... One day. One day I'll have my little parlour room and a room for crafty stuff and a big kitchen for yummy goodness... I go back and forth from thinking of buying a condo to buying a house. It'll come together eventually.
There was a lot of laying around accomplished and some cleanup in the house. Mellow is good.
Plus the weather is pretty out and a little outside time feels good.
I'm looking forward to my weekly brain purge(therapy) and especially CLASS! I am so inspired and excited that people actually want to try ATS and that people are excited about our troupe.
Life is good. We knew this.

For employees It’s not uncommon to have many different messages sent down to you from those in the board room, especially ones that you know are complete bullshit. How many of you have seen a corporate policy statement, that purports to be an Associate support notification, that you know totally contradicts the obvious manner that they go about doing things? Yeah, every one of you. It’s the difference between how a company wants people to see it, and how it actually acts. If it was done by a person it would be the polite gentleman who asked you how your day was as he proceeded to stab you repeatedly. He would turn to onlookers and say, again politely, “we needed to make sure the rest of you were well taken care of and simply had to discard an impediment to your successes.”
Oh, and BTW, there are some free bread and circuses available around the block in that alleyway.

Был приглашён и участвовал в очередном заседании семинара Русской Христианской Гуманитарной Академии. С докладами выступили Ростислав Евгеньевич Ермилов и доктор философских наук профессор Александр Александрович Ермичёв.
Докладчики рассказали о таких русских философах как Фёдор Августович Степун и Борис Валентинович Яковенко.
Русский духовный ренессанс начала XX-го века очевидно имеет западные корни.
Нужно выйти на бытие и очистить содержание нашего сознания от различных форм субъективизма, чётко ограничить область философии, чтобы философ мог выйти на сущее.
Жизнь должна быть воплощением и реализацией философии. Философия и функционирует как смысл жизни.
