that's definitely how they present it, in a sort of ephemeral, imprecise language, which i'm sure you can imagine!

i've never read Heidegger- so you mean a sort of Platonic notion of art? something that exists alone in another world? i've always like the idea of the artist as instrument, Keith Richards' guitar being the radio antenna picking up fully-formed tunes from the cosmos (i think is how he explained it once!).

yay, Foucault is on my side! i've (v. superficially) read a bit online about post-colonialism/critical race theory, and am finishing up Marshall MacLuhan's 'Understanding Media', and it's just got me thinking about Western ideas of rationality etc. but, having grown up immersed in that system of thinking, how can i rationalise any other way? don't know if that makes sense.
