I love the Clash reference as the title. Great Song on a great album. I think that Obama's intelligence, his ability to articulate complex problems in a way that everyone can understand (without sounding like an idiot like Bush did) makes him a great President. His job is to speak to the American people about the big issues of the day. He doesn't need to micro-manage the economy, that's what his Treasury Secretary is supposed to do. He just needs to surround himself with smart people with specialized training, and he needs to talk about BIG things with the American people. He knows how to inspire people. That's what the President is supposed to do. Stay above the fray, act dignified, represent America in a way that makes us proud, be respectful to our allies, and keep our enemies on their toes.
He is talking about the issues that matter most to me... environmental virtue ethics, socializing health care, ending the war in iraq, creating jobs in education, investing in higher education, making home ownership more affordable. When people call him a "Socialist," I think... GOD I HOPE SO :)
